Kat grew up in New York City, and has been playing music from a very young age. Having studied classical piano for 7 years as a youngster, she began writing songs on guitar at age 11. In the 90’s, Kat sang in the electronic band Lypid, backed by Brooklyn label Statra, where her collaborations were included on numerous licensed club releases throughout the US and Europe. She continued her growth as a performer and singer with her original folk-rock band; gigging regularly at NY clubs like Rockwood Music Hall and Living Room, and singing backup for numerous city bands. She was active in the Williamsburg/LES music scene, and released her first CD in 2008 called “Oh the Humanity” which received rave reviews in indie music publications.

These days, Kat co-leads her 4 piece indie-folk band “Marry The Sea”, playing around town and in festivals regularly. She also continues to lend her voice to other musical projects including backup vocals and voice-over work for Sesame Studios.

Kat is also the owner of “Music for Aardvarks with Kat”, here in Maplewood- a program that introduces music to young children. Here she teaches- playing guitar and singing with- approximately 50 students per week in “mommy and me” style music classes throughout the year. She has been teaching the NY based program to loyal and enthusiastic young students for the past 7 years.
